Washington County, Pennsylvania - Henry Taylor, Esquire, of Strabane Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, raised a family of ten children, most of whom remained in the area. His children were Matthew, Joseph, John, Henry, James, George W., Jane, Mary, Eliza, and Ann. Henry died in 1801. Tuscarawas County, Ohio - John Taylor, son of Henry Taylor of Washington County, Pennsylvania, came to Tuscarawas with his father-in-law Abraham Mosser around 1807. John Taylor and wife Mary Ann Mosser conducted protracted litigation against Abraham regarding ownership of the family homestead. The matter was settled in 1813, with ownership being granted to Mary Ann. John and Mary Ann had at least eight children, including John, Henry, Matthew, Joseph, Mary Ann, Eliza, Abraham, and Salina Jane. John Taylor died in Tuscarawas in 1842. Auglaize County, Ohio - The Taylor brothers, Joseph and Abraham, settled their families in Auglaize County around 1850. Joseph Taylor and Adaline Meyer remained in Uniopolis; Abraham Taylor and wife Lydia Stamm spent their last years in Monroe Township, Allen County, Ohio. Descendants Joseph Henry Taylor and wife Eliza Ellen Taylor owned a general store in Uniopolis for many years. Bureau and Mason Counties, Illinois - John Taylor, another Taylor brother, settled in Bureau County, Illinois. Mason County, Illinois - Henry Taylor settled in Mason County, Illinois by 1870 and died there in 1879. |
