Biographical Sketch (1882):2757 "Joseph married, first, Ann Stewart, and, second, Mrs. White, a widow, and lived and died in the township."
Biographical Sketch (1893):2760 "Joseph Taylor, son of Henry the pioneer, was born on the old homestead in South Strabane township, where he passed his entire life. He married Annie Stewart, a native of eastern Pennsylvania, who came over the mountains on horseback from the 'Forks of Elk,' Maryland. She died in March, 1834, leaving two sons: Henry and David S., and her husband followed her to the grave in May or June, 1845, at the age of sixty-eight years."
1845 Death Mention3508 "Died on Monday last after a long and painful illness Joseph Taylor of S. Strabane Twp. in his 67th year. Was one of the oldest residents of his township, having been born within a few miles of where he died. The father of the deceased emigrated to this county when it was a wilderness. His eldest son, still living, and but a few years older than the deceased, was the first white male child born in this county." |
