Biographical Sketch (1911):3162 "Nicholas Stamm, son of Werner, born April 22, 1752, died Oct. 6, 1828. He married Catharine Lerch, born April 21, 1754, died May 16, 1844. Like his parents, they are buried at the Bern Church. Among their children were: Johann Adam, Frederick, Peter, John, Mrs. Benjamin Graeff, Philip, William, Catharine (married Peter Reinhart) and Benjamin. Some of this family moved to Lycoming, Snyder, and Northumberland counties, Pennsylvania."

1828 Estate Petition:2970 "To the Honorable the Judges of the Court of Common Pleas of the County of Berks, now composing an Orphan's Court for said County: The petition of Benjamin Stam, of the sons and heirs at law of Nicholas Stam, late of Bern Township, Berks County, deceased, humbly shewith that your petitioner's said father lately, to wit on or about the sixth day of October A. D. one thousand eight hundred and twenty eight died at the said County intestate, leaving a widow, to wit Catharine and left as issue children, to wit Nicholas Stam, who died in the lifetime of his said father and left issue; John Stam who also died in the lifetime of his said father and left issue seven children, to wit Samuel, John, Margaret, David, Jared, Lydia, & Mosey; Adam Stam; Frederick Stam; Philip Stam; Daniel Stam; Maria Stam, intermarried with George Stoner; Catharina intermarried with Peter Reinhart; William Stam; Benjamin Stam; & Elizabeth intermarried with Samuel Graeff; and that the said intestate died seized in his desmense of and in a certain messuage tenement and plantation and tract of land situate in Bern Township, Berks County, adjoining land of Conrad Reber, Sebastian Kirling, land belonging to the estate of William Kiester dec'd, William Fray, William & Philip Obold and containing one hundred and forty five acres more or less. Also of and in a messuage and tract of land situate in the said township of Bern in the said county of Berks adjoining land of Abraham Miese, John Rick, Philip Frevitz and others and containing twenty three acres more or less, with appurtenances. Your petitioner therefore humbly prays your honors to award an inquest to make partition of the premises aforesaid to and among the children and representatives of the said intestate in such manner and in such proportion, as by the laws of this Commonwealth, is directed if such partition can be made without prejudice to or spoiling the whole, but if such partition cannot be made thereof as aforesaid then to value and appraise the same and make report of their proceedings herein according to law.
