Sillin Family Sketch
An American Adventure
Augusta County, Virginia - Gaspar Sillin and wife Lydia Jones raised a family of ten children in Augusta County, two of whom married into the Patterson family. Son John Sillin married Sarah "Sally" Patterson and joined the Augusta residents in their journey to Licking County, Ohio.

Licking County, Ohio - Strongly allied with the Patterson family while in Augusta County, Virginia, the Sillin family moved to Licking about the same time. While still in Augusta, John Sillin married Sally Patterson, a sister of Adam Patterson, the Licking County pioneer. Their son John P. Sillin married Hannah Patterson, a daughter of Adam Patterson and Rebecca Mohr.

Auglaize County, Ohio - John P. Sillin and Hannah Patterson relocated to Auglaize County, Ohio before 1840, along with William P. Morey and wife Rebecca Patterson, a sister of Hannah. In 1852, John P. Sillin wrote a letter to the family in Licking County describing the accidental death of William P. Morey. John P. Sillin died in Moulton Township, Auglaize County in 1874.
