1909 Obituary:2337, As his authority, Schillings cites the Centre Democrat, Centre County, Pennsylvania, 11 February 1909. Dr. J. W. Stam. Died recently at his home in Apolo, PA., from stroke of paralysis. He was 84 years of age and for many years had been a practicing physician in Millheim and was one of the best known men in lower Penns Valley. Dr. Stam was twice married, his first wife being Miss Nancy Zeigler, of Rebersburg. Four children were the result of this union all of whom are living as follows: C.R. Stam, of Etna; T.R. Stam, of West Union, Ia.; John W. Stam, Chinook, Mont., and Mrs. Alice Gingerich, of Hollidaysburg. His second wife was Mrs. Annie Gingerich, of Boalsburg, who died in Millheim a few years ago, leaving three children, namely: Mrs. Mary Williams and Mrs. Nettie Auble, of Apollo and Rev. Frederick Stam, of Lancaster. Internment was made in the Union Cemetery at Millheim.
