1907 Obituary in the Auglaize County Democrat:2126 Death of Joseph McMurray Occurred Saturday at Portland, Oregon, where he has been living for a number of years. Was born and reared in Wapakoneta. Wm. McMurray received a telegram Saturday announcing the death of his brother, Joseph McMurray at Portland, Oregon. Joseph McMurray was well known in Wapakoneta, having been born and reared here. For a number of years he was in business here, having been the proprietor of a fruit and confectionary store. About 20 years ago he left for the west and for several years has been making his home at Portland, Oregon. For some time he has been in ill health, suffering from tuberculosis. For the past year his health has been gradually failing. Last August he was in Wapakonata, and was then in a rather delicate condition, but had great hopes that he would regain his health in the west. His condition, however, did not improve any and death resulted Saturday. He was 44 years of age. The funeral services will be held at Portland.

1907 Obituary in the Auglaize County Republican:2127 Joseph McMurray. William McMurray, the florist, received a message last Saturday conveying the sad intelligence that his brother, Joseph McMurray, had died at his home in Portland, Oregon. The message came from Hugo Fritz, a former Wapakonetian, who is now engaged in business in Portland. The body was buried in Portland. The deceased was born and raised in this city, and was engaged in business here for many years, conducting a lunch counter and fruit store in the building where the "Democrat" block now stands. He left here about fifteen years ago for the west and has spent most of his time in Portland. He was here on a visit last spring while enroute home from Washington D.C., where he was called as a witness in some land cases in Oregon. At that time he was suffering from tuberculosis, and it was evident that he had not much longer to live. He died in his 44th year. He leaves a wife, who was Miss Aggie McFarland, formerly of this city, and one son, both of whom are living in Toledo.
