Notes for Johann Philip "Philip" STAMM

Biographical Sketch (1997):855, p. 25. "Johann (John) Philip, born 4 October 1785 in Bern and christened 13 November 1785. The inscription on his tombstone says 21 October for birth, but death (12 September 1875) in Penn Township is noted as ‘89-11-8’ which calculates to October 4 (for birth). He married Christina Heinrich who was born 26 February 1796 and died 13 March 1854. When J. Philip died, his will left his entire estate to Jacob Gruber, who was also executor. Philip was living with Jacob and Sarah Gruber in 1860 according to the Penn Township census for that year. There is no record of children other than mention of a 14 year old child, Catherine, born about 1836 according to the 1850 census. Considering that her mother would have been 40 and her father about 51 when she was born, Catherine probably was John’s niece or other relative rather than a daughter."
