1907 Obituary:1969 Death of Oliver Perry Focht Occurred Tuesday Night. Was Well Known Throughout the County as an Up-to-Date and Progressive Farmer. Funeral Tuesday Afternoon. After an illness extending over a period of four months, Oliver Perry Focht, one of the most prominent residents of Union township and Auglaize County, died at his home at 7:30 o’clock Tuesday night. For the past four months he has been failing in health. He was first taken ill with an attack of pleurisy. For a while, after the attack, he was able to be up, but his illness developed into tubercular pleuro pneumonia, since which time he gradually grew weaker until death. Previous to his illness Mr. Focht had a robust constitution but the past few days his condition was very serious and while his death was not unexpected it came as a shock to his relatives and family.

Oliver Perry Focht was born in Union township, August 22, 1854 and died at the age of 53 years, 9 months and 25 days. During his entire life he resided with his wife and family in the farm in Union township on which he was born. Mr. Focht was well known throughout the country as an up-to-date and progressive farmer. He was a graduate of Wapakoneta high school and consequently a member of the Wapakoneta Alumni Association. He was president of the Auglaize County Agricultural Association for one term, and was a member of the Odd Fellows lodge, of this city, at the time of his death.

A widow and eight children, Tony Focht, of Dayton; Frank Focht, of Union township; Clay Focht, of Indiana; Ray Focht, of Columbus; Herbert Focht, Rolland Focht, Leo Focht and Katherine Focht, of Union Township, survive. Mrs. Focht, the widow, who has been ill for some time, is in a serious condition, but it is hoped that the shock of her husband’s death will not make her condition worse.

The funeral services will be held at the Focht residence in Union township at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon, and will be held under the auspices of the Odd Fellows lodge of this city. Interment will be made in the Fairmont cemetery.
