1860 U.S. Census:399 Almira enumerated in the household of her father William Bitler as Elmira, female age 20, born in Ohio.

1870 U.S. Census:2732 Almira / Elmira / Luisa enumerated in the household of her husband Linus Purdy in Wapakoneta, Auglaize County, Ohio as a female, age 29, white, keeping house, born in Ohio. In addition to husband Linus, male age 41, white, br. mason, born in Ohio, daugher Louisa, age 3, was also residing in the household.

Death of "Lize Purdy" recorded in Auglaize County, Ohio as; Lize Purdy, born in Ohio, age 35 years, died 6 December 1870, died in Wapakoneta, cause of death "inward disease." [Note: Use with caution. Could this refer to daugher Louise, age 3 1/2 and not her mother?]

Death before 1889: Obituary of father William Bitler290, v. 1, p. 35 (Auglaize County Democrat, 18 July 1889, "St. Johns News") (d. 13 July 1889) does not mention Almira among the six surviving children of William Bitler and Rebecca Snyder: "Six children remain: Christopher of Colorado; Arthur of Wapakoneta; Samuel of Bitlertown, Kansas; Mahala Bitler of St. Johns; Hannah Rogers of Wapakoneta and Lucinda Fritz of Roundhead."
