Biographical Sketch (1909):660, v. 2, p. 134-138. "Josiah Scott was born in Washington County, Pennsylvania, in 1801. He married Samantha Morey, who was born December 1, 1807 in Rutland County, Vermont, and was a daughter of Abraham and Abigail (Stratton) Morey. Her death occurred March 5, 1887, and her grave was made at Charles City, Iowa. In the family of this worthy couple were seven children: Sanford, who died in March 1903; Joseph M.; Abigail; Mary Jane, who has also passed away; Eliza Roselia, who was born in 1839 and is married and lives in the state of Washington; Mary Roena, who was born in March 2, 1842, and was married in January, 1859, and now lives in Denver, Colorado; and Sidney A., who now resides on a farm two miles from Charles City, Iowa."

Assume this refers to the entire Scott family, as wife Samantha, and children Sanford, Joseph, and Eliza Roselia were baptised on 30 August 1840.

2356 "March 8, 1845, Josiah Scott applied for and received a letter of dismission to join The True Wesleyan Methodist Church of Utica."

1848 Church Testimony:2356 "October 30, 1848, Josiah Scott was called by the session of the Utica Church (Presby), as a non-church member, to witness (along with four others) and serve a citation upon the accused. (Obviously a disciplinary case)."

1850 U.S. Census: Josiah Scott family not yet located. May be in Bellefontaine Township, Logan County, Ohio as Joseph Scott; a Sanford L. Scott is nearby.

1855 Relocation to Floyd County, Iowa:
