1946 Obituary:293 John M. Wehner Taken by Death Early on Friday. Well Known South Blackhoof Street Men Succumbs to Heart Attack. Funeral Monday. John M. Wehner, 78, a lifelong resident of this city and vicinity, died at 2:30 this morning in his residence on South Blackhoof Street. He suffered a coronary attack about two weeks ago. Engaged in the stove and tinware business here for a period of fifty years, Mr. Wehner was prominent in local activities and was widely known. He was active in Knight of Columbus activity for many years and was honored by that fraternity in 1928 by being chosen a delegate to the supreme convention. He was a member of the Fourth Degree of the K. of C. He was also active in the B. P. O. Elks fraternity, having served as trustee of the lodge at the time the new Home was constructed. Born on October 17, 1867, in Pusheta Township, Mr. Wehner was a son of Joseph and Elizabeth Gerstner Wehner, both of whom died when he was quite young. On October 5, 1896, he was united in marriage with Anna Orth of this city. She died several years ago. One brother, George Wehner, resides at St. Marys. He was a member of St. Joseph Church. His association with Joseph Foos terminated in 1923 and for 20 years thereafter he was associated with his sons, Milton W. Wehner and George Wehner, in the stove and tinware business. Funeral services have been arranged for Monday, June 17, at 9 a.m. when solemn requiem high mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Ley. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
