Biographical Sketch (1972):1921 "George Patterson, born about 1776, married Barbara Silling 12 May 1796. He remained on the family homestead in Augusta County, Virginia, when other children removed to Ohio and Tennessee." Birth: George identified as a son of John Patterson in Patterson's will1920 written 23 January 1815 in Augusta County, Virginia. John Patterson's will identifies the children of John Patterson as sons Adam and George and daughters Jane Patterson, Sara Sillings, and Polly Moore. 1790 Augusta County, Virginia Tax List:1927 14 June 1790, John Patterson, three white male tithables over the age of 16, no slaves, 7 horses. The three tithables are assumed to be John Patterson and sons Adam and George. << George's birth date would need to be before 1774 in order to be age 16 or over in 1790. 1798 Marriage:1953 Marriage license issued: 1798, January 20, Geo. Patterson and Gasper Silling, surety. Geo. Patterson and Barbara Silling, daughter of said Gaspar. 1800 Augusta County, Virginia Tax List:1929 April 2, 1800, George Patterson, one white male tithable over the age of 16, no slaves, 1 horse, $12 tax.
