Notes for Philip Bruce MOORE

Philip B. Moore married1056 Lydia Patterson (daughter of Adam Patterson and first wife1057 Sophia Jones) in 1820 in Licking County, Ohio, residing next to Adam and Ephraim Patterson (son of Adam by his second wife1058 Rebecca Moore) in the 18301053 census enumeration. The relationship, if any, between Rebecca Moore and Philip B. Moore has yet to be determined. About 1847, the Philip Moore family and the Ephraim Patterson family removed to Iowa, based on information in the History of Johnson County, Iowa1059 describing Ephraim's son Bruce. By 1850 Philip Moore1054 was living in Washington County, Iowa, with Ephraim Patterson1060 and his family living in adjoining Johnson County, Iowa. Elizabeth Patterson, sister of Lydia and half-sister of Ephraim, accompanied the group along with her son Cyrus, residing in Washington County two households1061 from sister Lydia and her husband Philip Moore. Philip B. Moore, his wife Lydia Patterson, and her sister Elizabeth Patterson are all buried in Middleburg Cemetery, English River Townships, Washington County, Iowa.

1798 Birth:1052,1062 Birth date of 24 February 1798 taken from 1864 tombstone in Middleburg Cemetery, English River Township, Washington County, Iowa. Birth place of Virginia taken from 1860 census enumeration. Connections to Virginia, Ohio, and family members of Adam Patterson consistent from 1820s support this assumption.

1820 Marriage:1055 Lydia Patterson married Philip Bruce Moore on 17 November 1820 in Licking County, Ohio, performed by John Green, Minister of the Gospel. The same minister married Lydia's father Adam Patterson and third wife Ann Crow in January of the same year.

1828 Land Sale:1063 Deed of sale of half-interest in approximately 100 acres from Elizabeth Patterson, owned jointly by Elizabeth and Lydia Patterson, to Philip B. Moore for $350 on 20 December 1828.
